Senior Developer (Laravel/PHP)

The Opportunity

Arkstone is hiring a Senior Backend Feature Developer to accelerate delivery of new product capabilities across our core API platform. You will own feature implementation from design through production, collaborate closely with product and domain stakeholders, and help shape scalable backend architecture.What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Laravel and PHP
• Deliver new APIs, business logic, and workflow enhancements backed by MySQL
• Own feature development end-to-end, including technical design, implementation, and rollout
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure clean API contracts and seamless integration
• Improve system performance and reliability in queue-driven and event-driven workflows
• Write and maintain automated tests for delivered features
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, pairing, and strong engineering practices
• Use modern AI/agentic coding workflows responsibly to increase delivery velocity and quality

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong production experience with PHP and Laravel
• Strong SQL and data modeling experience, specifically with MySQL
• Experience designing and operating scalable APIs and asynchronous processing systems
• Proven ability to drive complex feature work from concept to production
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Security-minded engineering practices, especially for sensitive or regulated data
• Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools (AI-assisted development agents), including prompt design, code generation, refactoring, and quality validation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthtech, clinical software, or other regulated environments
• Familiarity with Redis/background workers and event-oriented architectures
• Experience with AWS and production observability/monitoring tooling
• Experience maintaining coding standards and engineering documentation in growing teams
