Alicia attended Ohio State University (OSU) in Columbus, Ohio where she earned her BS in Nursing. While working as a registered nurse in the medical Intensive Care Unit, she co-founded Spike Out Sepsis, a volleyball tournament that raised awareness about the condition.

She then went on to earn her Masters in Nursing and became Board Certified as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her Certificate Specialization in aging. While at OSU she traveled with the College of Nursing to Honduras for three consecutive years to provide healthcare to various isolated and poor villages.

Alicia worked in a movement disorders clinic at OSU focusing primarily on Parkinson’s disease and benign essential tremors and published research regarding the role of exercise in Parkinson’s disease.
